  • We have 5 verses that clearly shows us that the thorns are people. Numbers 33:55, Joshua 23:13, Judges 2:32, Samuel 23:6 and Micah 7:4.
  • Nowhere in the bible is the word thorn used for sickness and disease.
  • Paul said the thorn was a messenger or angelos of satan. The word angelos is translated as angel and messenger never is it translated sickness or disease.
  • The devil was trying to shut Paul up so the revelation of Jesus and the gospel would not go forth.
  • The devil sent his messenger or angel to stir up people against Paul and the gospel.
  • From Acts 13 and throughout the rest of the book of Acts we see the devil stirring up people to persecute Paul and hinder the gospel.
  • Remember that we already seen how this false doctrine that Paul’s thorn was sickness that came into the church and eventually into English Bible translations by 1960.
  • The Greek word translated infirmity literally means without strength.
  • In Romans 6:19, 8:26 and Hebrews 7:28 we see this same Greek word translated weakness.
  • Galatia was a region of Asia Minor and the cities of Antioch, Iconium, Lystra and Derbe were all part of Galatia.
  • After Paul had been stoned to death and raised from the dead he went and preached the gospel in Derbe and then returned to Lystra, Iconium and Antioch.
  • If there was a physical condition during this time of preaching it was from being stoned to death not an eye disease.
  • “Plucked out your own eyes” is an idiom like “It’s raining cats and dogs” and is not to be taken literally.
  • Today people will says things like “What I would give for that”
  • People will try to tell us that Paul had an eye disease because of these words.
  • Nowhere in the bible does it tell us that Paul had an eye disease.
  • Some people would tell us that Paul had malaria but there is no scripture for this either.
  • To this very day the devil is still trying to silence the Apostle Paul and the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • There is no Biblical truth that the thorn was sickness or disease and there is no biblical truth that Paul had an eye disease or malaria.
